Avocet can provide you with appropriate sample containers for all your testing needs. As some tests may require special containers, please call to verify your needs if in doubt. For investigative purposes, a private individual may bring in a sample in their own container, however we can not guarantee that it is free from contaminates or disinfectants. If a sample is brought in your own container, rinse the container at least three times with the sample before filling. Collected samples should be put on wet ice and containers must be received by Avocet within all recommended hold times. For regulatory purposes, please pick up EPA approved certified containers from us prior to collection. A chain of custody (COC) form needs to accompany all collection containers. The COC documents the handling history of the sample and is provided when you pick up your sample containers.
Bacteriological tests will all require that clients collect in sterile containers picked up from us prior to collection. The white powder in bacteriological testing bottles is a de-chlorinating agent and should not be removed. Please call or stop in for special collection instructions and containers for lead/copper testing.
For some analysis, collection containers may contain dangerous preservatives. Please request a copy of the chemical's Material Safety Data Sheets for proper handling.
